Caring for the Caregiver

If you are a caregiver for a friend or loved one, or you know someone who is, we're here to help you along the way. Stop into one of our Caregiver Support Group meetings to share your frustrations, concerns, good days & bad, with people who share the same experiences. More often than not, the people you meet may offer guidance to help you through your journey, or you may be able to do the same for them.
Our group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 1:00 PM. We are happy to have you join us.
If you would like more information on resources, please call Debbie Noel-Wetherbee at 978-733-4747 Ext. 307.
Caring for the caregiver can include:
- Providing support: Help with errands, chores, and other tasks. Offer emotional and social support.
- Helping with health care: Make sure the caregiver is managing their own health care needs.
- Helping with care planning: Help the caregiver create and manage a care plan for the person they care for.
- Encouraging mental health services: Encourage the caregiver to seek mental health services if necessary.
- Providing respite care: Arrange for regular respite care, such as a volunteer, in-home aide, or adult day care program.
- Helping with independence: Help the caregiver maintain as much of their independence as possible.
- Taking care of yourself: Take time for yourself and your own needs. Eat a well-balanced diet, exercise, and schedule short rest periods.
- Activating the relaxation response: Use mind-body practices like yoga, tai chi, meditation, and deep relaxation techniques.
