General Information

Program Goals

  • Assist Senior Citizens, Veterans, and spouses of disabled or deceased Veterans with property tax bills
  • Increase involvement of Senior Citizens, Veterans, and spouses of disabled, or deceased Veterans in Municipal government and the school system


Eligibility Requirements

  • Senior citizens age 60+, Veterans, or spouses of disabled, or deceased Veterans
  • Homeowner or current spouse
  • Own and occupy the property for which Clinton, MA taxes are paid


Selection Process

  • Applicant must meet eligibility requirements
  • Applicant must have appropriate skills for position
  • Applicant and department head must both agree placement is an appropriate match
  • Max Income:
  • Single- $40,000/year
  • Married- $50,000/year


Benefit Limits

  • Maximum benefit of $1500 per fiscal year per household or 100 hours of work performed
  • Hourly compensation of State Minimum Wage at $15.00 per hour


General Program Information

  • Program year is July 1 to June 30 each fiscal year
  • Applicants must re-apply annually. Acceptance is not guaranteed.
  • Participants are exempt from state taxes but are not exempt from federal, social security, or Medicare taxes
  • Participating in this program will not affect any local exemptions you may be eligible for
  • If you qualify for the state Circuit Breaker credit, the amount you may be eligible for could be affected by participation in this program
  • Abatements for work performed will be credited on Q3 and Q4 property tax bills for the fiscal year work is performed
